About Me

Chris Vanderplank
Intrepid Developer

Full Stack .Net Developer

Me

Hi, I’m Chris, a full-stack developer, lifelong learner, and the guy behind <Intrepid-Developer/>.

I’ve been building web applications for over 15 years (13ish professionally), specialising in the .Net ecosystem with a strong focus on technologies like Blazor, PowerShell, and Azure. Whether it's crafting clean and maintainable code or architecting scalable cloud solutions, I’m all about creating elegant, efficient software that solves real-world problems.

Over the years, I’ve worked on a wide variety of projects—everything from internal business tools to large-scale public platforms. Right now, I’m a Lead Software Engineer at Mobilityways, working on the Liftshare platform to help people reduce their carbon footprint through smarter commuting. I love what I do, and I’m constantly exploring new technologies and methodologies to improve my craft and deliver better solutions.

But there’s more to me than just code. I’m a family man, a proud dad to two brilliant young boys who keep me inspired and on my toes. Balancing work, family, and side projects isn’t always easy, but it’s worth it. They’re a big part of why I started this site.

<Intrepid-Developer/> is my passion project. It's a space where I can give back to the dev community and hopefully inspire others to take their first (or next) step into coding. I believe software development is one of the most powerful and rewarding skills anyone can learn, and I want to make it more accessible to those who are curious but maybe unsure where to start.

I aim to post weekly with tutorials, development tips, and honest insights from my own journey. I also plan to branch into YouTube to bring some of that content to life in a more hands-on way.

My long-term goal? To grow this into something sustainable, something that not only helps others learn but eventually allows me to shift more of my time toward teaching, creating, and spending time with my family. I hope to one day become a Microsoft MVP working closely with the community.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope something here sparks an idea, teaches you something new, or just reminds you that you're not alone on this journey.

Let’s build something awesome together. 💻🚀

Lead Engineer for a small, close-knit team working on decarbonising the office commute through innovative software solutions. Our goal is to make it easier for organizations and employees to adopt greener, more sustainable travel options.

In my current role, I’ve been leading the overhaul of our Azure infrastructure by introducing Bicep and embracing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices to ensure scalability, maintainability, and repeatability. I also recently implemented .NET Aspire to streamline and improve our local development experience, making it faster and more reliable for our team to build and test services.

Beyond technical contributions, I take on line management responsibilities, supporting and mentoring team members to grow in their roles and stay aligned with our shared goals.

Achievements

  • Introduction of Bicep and IaC to modernize and standardize our Azure infrastructure
  • Implementation of .NET Aspire to enhance the local development environment
  • Leadership and mentoring within a close-knit agile development team
  • Active contribution to a mission-driven product that helps reduce carbon emissions from commuting
